Building a Better World with Solar+ Battery Storage
Home » Archive by category 'Uncategorized'

To stop global warming and dangerous CO2 emissions we need to put coordinated and concentrated efforts in every part of the society- government, business, and the community. This includes all of us as homeowners. As homeowners, we can play a major part in keeping our planet green by getting smart, going solar and reducing our collective carbon footprint.

At least one industry research firm has taken a bullish approach Today’s smart homes have energy-efficient appliances connected through the internet and you can turn on your light and heat before you reach your driveway and check on your kids from work.  You can water your yard from another country. But to do all these your home needs energy and a solar system plus battery storage can provide you with that energy.

And another research firm anticipates that the world will have 43 gigawatts of solar panels installed by the end of 2014. Either way both companies are showing strong and stable growth for the industry.

Market conditions have stabilized for the solar industry over the past few years, following a period of wild growth, which led first to undersupply then oversupply of solar panels by photovoltaic manufacturers in particular.

Manufacturing over-capacity and pricing erosion within the PV industry was previously a key factor in limiting annual growth to 10 percent to 20 percent between 2011 and 2013.

With a more stable pricing environment and the prospects of increased end-market globalization, research firms forecasts a return to annual growth above 30 percent for the PV industry in 2014.

It also anticipated that during that six-month period in 2014, 22 gigawatts of solar panels will be installed.

Embrace the clean and bright energy future with solar
Home » Archive by category 'Uncategorized'

After many years of development and political debates about solar energy, the solar industry is finally approaching to stand on its own. Utility-scale solar power projects worldwide are beating fossil fuels on price without any subsidies; commercial, industrial, and residential projects are also approaching grid parity.

Solar energy is the most abundant energy on the planet. Solar energy hitting the earth every hour is enough to meet all of humanity’s energy needs for an entire year. If we could capture one hour’s worth of solar energy each year, we do not need any oil, coal, and natural gas. And the earth will become a lot cleaner and brighter.

Solar panel costs have fallen from $77 per watt in 1977 to the current price, an almost 100% reduction. Electricity generated at a utility-scale solar plant costs as little as 4.3 cents per kWh on an unsubsidized basis, less expensive than every option for new fossil-fuel power plants.

Solar power plants can last 40 years or more and require minimal maintenance. Solar panels come with 25+years of warranty. If needed can be easily replaced with new, more efficient modules at a relatively low cost.

Solar dominate the new generation capacity installed around the world. As solar becomes cost-effective, a big part of new power generation plants is solar. As costs come down, more utilities look for solar assets, and solar will further dominate the new generation capacity additions.

Solar is the fastest energy source to deploy. No electricity source can be built or repaired as quickly as solar. No other power plants, fossil-fuel or any other renewable energy plants, could be constructed rapidly as solar plants.

Big utility-scale solar power plants built-in in remote areas get a lot of attention in the media. But the distributed rooftop solar is disrupting how we look at energy. Rooftop solar projects are spread all over the grid, from home rooftops to panels installed on your local big-box retailer. There is probably a solar panel system near you.

If you want to go solar, a rooftop system is the best choice for you. But even if you don’t own a home that is suitable for installing solar panels, you can get 100% of your electricity from solar energy from a growing number of places. Community solar projects allow ordinary consumers to invest in their solar projects and purchase their solar electricity through a power purchase agreement. Energy distributors give customers the option to source their electricity from wind or solar for an extra fee.

The bottom line is that solar is booming worldwide, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down. Every energy consumer should notice this change and embrace the emerging clean and bright energy future.

Which electric vehicle (ev) charger is right for you?
Home » Archive by category 'Uncategorized'

The popularity of electric vehicles is growing in Canada and around the world. EV sales have been growing by more than 25% year over year and Tesla motor company’s value has become larger than that of GM and Ford car companies combined.

It is estimated that more than 120,000 EVs currently on our Canadian roads lead to the increase of the demand for convenient and accessible charging stations. Hotels and other businesses are starting to offer EV charging stations to increase their customer base. EV charging stations are popping up at malls and stopovers along major highways across the country.

If you’re thinking about installing an EV charger at your home or business, New Dawn Energy Solutions Team is here to help you. EV charging capacity you can install will depend on the EV and the electric service size at the property where you want to locate the charging station. With so many EV chargers and NEEMA plugs to choose from, we will help you choose the right one for your needs.

EV chargers are grouped into three levels – Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 chargers.

Level 1 Charger:

Level 1 EV chargers are mainly rated at 120-volt 15A hence it can be plugged into any standard outlets.

  • Popular in households
  • Economical
  • 8 – 20 hours to charge a fully discharged battery
  • Portable
  • Slowest speed of charging – charges 8 km per hour

These chargers are portable and don’t require special installation. The downside is slow charging, takes anywhere from 8 – 20 hours to fully charge an EV battery from a fully discharged state. If you don’t drive long-distance every day and can find plugs where you go and have time to plug-in, a Level 1 charger may be right for you.

Level 2:

They are much faster than Level 1 chargers as they are connected to a 240-volt outlet – just like a clothes dryer or an oven. As Level 2 charger requires new infrastructure in the garage, an electrician is needed to install safely and efficiently. If you regularly drive long distances and don’t have a lot of time to recharge, the Level 2 charger may be a necessity.

  • 240-volt power
  • 5 -10 hours to charge a fully discharged battery
  • Installed by a certified electrician
  • Popular in industrial, commercial, hospitality and residences • Charges 30 km per hour
